Eternal rest grant to them, O Lord; and let light perpetual shine upon them. May their soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Our prayers are with your family in your time of loss. We hope this page gives you information to help in the planning of your loved one's funeral service. Planning a funeral service is always difficult. We want to help you during this process by providing you with some helpful links.
Funerals are an important tradition in the Catholic faith. Your loved one will receive his/her last rights and a ceremony of his/her spirit moving onto the afterlife. Others in attendance will be able to support the bereaved, pray for the dead, and receive some closure.
In the Catholic funeral tradition, there are multiple ceremonies in honor of the deceased. First, there is usually a vigil service, which may also be referred to as a wake or a rosary service. Next, there is a funeral Mass, and finally, there is the graveside commital.
Who should I call?
Please call our parish office at 735-0484 if you are planning to have a Funeral Mass at our parish. As everyone is dealing with the COVID virus, please call us first to make sure we will be in the office. If we are not in the office, we will schedule a time and day to meet at your convenience. Once you meet with our priest, we will discuss the funeral liturgy with the readings, as well as music, which will be used for the Funeral Mass.
Readings
The following link is a list of possible readings for the Funeral Mass. Please pick one reading from the Old Testament, Responsorial Psalm, New Testament, and Gospel. If during the season of Easter both readings must come from the New Testament as noted in this link.

Cremation
Your family may choose to have a loved one cremated, but please keep in mind that the Church has certain laws which govern this practice. Cremated remains of a body cannot be spread, mingled with other ashes, or kept at home. They should be buried in a proper place of rest such as a columbarium or cemetery. Ordinarily, the body should be present for the Funeral Mass and cremation take place following. For more information on cremation please see the following link from the USCCB.
